Sustainability & Responsible Sourcing

Responsible sourcing isn't a checkbox. It's built into how we source by default.

Aarna Roots is a young company, and we'd rather be precise about where we are than borrow the language of organizations decades ahead of us. This page describes the standards built into our factory network today, and is honest about what we are still building toward.

Materials & Responsible Sourcing

Built into the sourcing conversation by default.

  • Sustainable and organic fibres, recycled materials, and blended fabrics offered as standard options, not premium add-ons
  • Water and chemical management practices assessed as part of factory qualification
  • Artisan livelihood support built into our Jaipur and Ahmedabad handicraft and block-print sourcing
  • Packaging reduction discussed at the development stage, not bolted on at shipment
Hand block print textile production
Social & Ethical Compliance

Verified per factory, not claimed in bulk.

What we check

  • Labour standards: no child or forced labour, fair wages, reasonable working hours
  • Health & safety: fire safety, structural integrity, emergency preparedness
  • Grievance mechanisms available to factory workers
  • Financial and operational stability of the factory itself

Frameworks we work within

BSCISEDEX / SMETAWRAPBuyer-Specific Codes

Exact certification status is disclosed per factory during vendor mapping — see our Supplier Code of Conduct for the full baseline standard.

Quality and compliance inspection
Origin & Traceability

Honest about where traceability ends today.

Forced-labour and origin scrutiny — UFLPA in the US, deforestation and due-diligence rules in the EU — is now a standing part of how serious buyers evaluate a sourcing partner, not a follow-up question.

We map raw-material origin as far up the chain as each category realistically allows, and we disclose the limits of that traceability honestly rather than overstating it. This is an area we expect to strengthen materially as our factory network matures.

Our Commitments

A charter we hold ourselves to, in writing.

01
We disclose sourcing realities, including what a factory is not yet certified for.
02
We flag compliance risks early, not after a shipment is at risk.
03
We do not push factories toward buyers whose standards they cannot meet.
04
We treat certification status as buyer-specific information, not a marketing blanket claim.
05
We build alternate-factory options into every category, not just a single point of failure.
06
We measure ourselves on buyer outcomes, not on the volume of frameworks we can list.
We would rather tell a buyer what we're still building than claim a standard we haven't earned.
